WE ARE THE PEOPLE

We propose to make a film, the subject matter of which will be people - people whose lives must be devoted to the struggle against two basi[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]]c social ills;  unemployment and bad housing - people against a background of littered city streets, of dark tenement flats, of children going to work to help pay for such flats, of crowded dirty living, tenement fires, evictions - people against a background of rural impoverishment, of bare sterile land, tenancy, bad houses, sickness - people breathing the air of the stockyards, the soot of the steel mills - people imbued with the psychology of insecurity - the fear of old age, fear for their children, fear of disease and homelessness.

Against the panorama of insecurity and meagre living will be built [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] the modern Greenbelt community through the stages of planning and construction to the completed project.
