Dear Clair,

By this time you have perhaps heard from the Newark museum acknowledging your gift. If you have not, you will surely hear soon. As to your tax write-off, you can double the price paid for the painting. The Museum is very pleased with the painting, and the whole series will be placed on exhibition some time in January.

Made a recent trip to Atlanta to see my aunt who is very ill, but did not get a chance to see or call Ralph James since time was so short and so much to do.

All else goes as well as can be expected. Out of school next week for the holidays. I really need the rest--this has been a very full semester, but a good one.

Stay well,

P.S Am enclosing copy of a letter to Edna and Farley, also a copy of bill for painting.
