Having been called upon to make a statement in regard to Richard T Griffin's case I would say that I know nothing of the treatment given him from personal observation. But it was generally understood here that the amputation of his feet was propper and necessary at the time it was done. I was not personally acquainted with Dr. Williams but I have good reason to believe that he endeavoured to procure the assistance of an able and experienced surgeon and loyal man in the operation. I never heard of his receiving any cruel treatment while he was in the hands of Dr. Williams.

Very respectfully
D. J. Gibson
