Relative to some depredations committed by Freedman on his property of some Widows & Orphans, comn was referred by Col Brown Asst Com'r to Capt Wilder, who said it was the will of the Gov't. Says that 1500 or 2000 cords of wood have been cut from the property | Oct 16. 1865 Resp'y referred to Col Brown Asst Com'r &c for investigation and report. Please return these papers sd. M.W. A.A.G. Recd bk Nov. 2d calling attention to report of Capt Wilder Sup't, who gives his opinion as to the best manner of stopping the depredations and states that none of the wood is taken by his direction - also to report of Capt T. Price A.A.I.G. Dist of Ft. Monroe, who states that the story of these depredations is true, and that many of them are by permission of Cap't Wilder. Col Brown states in end.
