- 2 - I suppose you saw the Examiner articles on Sunday about Mendocino-The Bardells called over and showed it to us and later gave us their copy. Donald, Dad and I packed a picnic lunch Sunday and drove over to Napa for plums (damson) at Clara's place---well harvested already but we got half a big box (about a third of what I had last year) from the tree tops and also a couple of small boxes off the ancient apple tree so I have been up to the eyes this morning in jam etc. My own berries also are about gone. We stopped in to see Ann and Biddy---found her in a tizzy as the toilet has just boiled over, all over the place, and threatened Clara's stuff in the basement below--- She is selling the house and may move not too long hence... Biddy is fine, positively svelte, having trimmed down the weight.. she went wild over us and sat in our laps the while time--- We may have to take her until Clara gets back--or maybe you would want her? However, our cat is not more, so she wou;d [[would]] be OK here if it works out that Ann can'T keep her. Poor Florence!! She is still weeping over our lost Henry who was put out by the Vet---the Vet gave her a pair of Siamese cats--the female very pregnant--and they are having to keep them inside all of the time-----we declined any more partnership in stray cats---and I have just given Florence $20, (!) to settle our half of the hospital and final rites of Henry!! (I forgot to list him in our arrangements at the COOP Funeral Assn!) We are enjoying the shaggy elephant jokes--not having heard them before--- We are enjoying Donald this summer and having lots of good visits -- He is taking dad pver to the city this morning -- dad took our car for a 1000 mile check-up and Don picked him up on his way to the S.F. State classes. Tomorrow, they go to Fresno for dad's speech and back on Friday since Don has his first session on Sat with Margaret Webster .... Donald seems happy and if he has regrets, he does not show any of it around us... And so it goes. Life is pleasant, the garden is full of flowers and the chick-a-dee sings ... I didn't mean to keep on this long but here it is - Love to all Mother [over]
