Columbia City December 22 1865 General Tillson Dear Sir As my neighbor Mr D L Curtis an old citizen and very infirm, sends a message by Mr Mc Knight, and request to hav a colored man named Li arrested and sent off. I take the liberty to address a note to you General, adding my testimony to that of Mr Curtis through Mr McKnight, and Mr McKnights own and to beg that it may be consistent with your means of duty to arrest him immediately and send him off to some place where he cannot do the same mischef that he is daily doing in this neighborhood. He was considered by his former owner Mr Wm Jones, as an outlaw before freedom, and since he has not I believe done a single days work, but is committing depradations on several plantations constantly. Mr Jones his former owner told me a few days ago that he had killed over one hundred hogs of his since freedom, and he is ready to join in this request at any moment when he can be same Mr McKnight who is a perfectly reliable man can tell you all about him, and will arrange with you if agreeable and on securing him - You may not remember me General, I therefore refer you to any Gentleman in town. I wrote them Very Respectfully General Geo. W. Evans
