My dear Sir:--
Your kind letter dated May 16th was forwarded to me by my business partner, Col. Hecker, while I was travelling in Europe. I have just returned to Detroit, and beg to thank you for your courtesy, and to say that I deeply regretted my inability to accept your kind invitation to see Mr. Weldon's collection during the time it was on exhibition. I have frequently heard most complimentary things said in reference thereto, and feel that I have missed a rare opportunity.

Will you accept, please, for yourself, and tender to Mr. Weldon, my sincere thanks for the courtesy extended.

Yours very sincerely
Charles L Freer
