Mr. H. E. Esterbrook,
Deputy Collector, U.S. Customs Service,
New York, N.Y.

Dear Sir:-

I am in receipt of your notice dated Nov 11 stating that there is a balance of $2.25 due for duty on a shipment for me which came by S.S. KONIG ALBERT, duties paid June 26th, 1907 - Entry No. 165,778.

I paid Perry, Ryer & Co., Customs Brokers, through the N.Y. O. & W.R.R.Co. on June 26th, $94.75, covered by their statement of all charges in connection with this shipment and including duty on $185 at 45% - $83.25.

The notice received to-day from you is the first that has been received, and I have had no previous knowledge of any charges additional to that paid Perry, Ryer & Co.

Will you be good enough to furnish me with a detail of the balance of $2.25, and oblige,

Yours truly,

Charles L. Freer
