My dear Mr. Gookin:- On my return from Minneapolis, I find your good letter of December 21st, also one from Doctor Webster, of the same date. It will give me real pleasure to see yourself, and Doctor and Mrs. Webster, on the morning of January 2nd, and I am looking forward, with keen interest, to have the following three days with your good selves and the collections. I am sorry Mr. Buckingham cannot be of the little party, but, perhaps, he will come some other time. I presume that your party will arrive on the Michigan Central train due at 7:15 a. m. My man will meet you at the station and look after your luggage, and start you in a carriage for my home where breakfast will be ready, and where I shall be very pleased to see you. There is an excellent return train via. the Michigan Central, which leaves Detroit at 9:15 p. m. and arrives at Chicago at 7:30 a. m. This train starts fresh from Detroit, and the sleeping cars are fresher and more agreeable, than those attache to the through train from New York. If you and your party return by
