Arizona T'was once that I was happy, My life was filled with cheer; I had never seen Huachuca, Until the Army brought me here. I've heard songs of her beauty, Pretty Girls and big strong men; Rolling plains and majestic mountains, Just heaven from end to end. There is one thing that is certain, Of this there is no denying; The guy that started that noise, Did a hell of a lot of lying. Out here on this lonely desert, Goat is all we eat; The girls are all bowlegged, And the boys all have flat feet. Why did they have to send us here, To stay in sad dejection, Out here on this lonely desert, For this damn state's protection? No longer are we religious, We fight, We drink, We curse; We never worry about going to hell, For it couldn't be any worse. [[image]] HUACHUCA But there is no one to blame but me, The Army never forgot it; I asked for foreign service, And believe me, I damn sure got it. By WILLIE HERRING, CPL. Hq. Co. 2nd Bn. 372nd Inf.
