Mrs. Helen L. Peterson
823 Dupont Circle Building
Washington, D.C.

Dear Helen:

Enclose herewith $25.00 in P.O. money order as my first installment payment on liquidation of Frank George's back salary. I will try and get the balance of my pro-rata share by convention time. Okay?

Also enclose copy of my letter to S.E. Kirk, Chairman Tribal Council, requesting that Boyd Jackson be appointed as delegate to our Convention. The truth of the matter is this. I invited Mr. Jackson to come to our Convention, but he suggested that I write to his Council requesting his appearance.

I am also sending you a copy of my wire to William A. Wall requesting that Wall and Deernose be appointed as delegates to the Convention-- This was a compliance to a wire I received from Donald Deernose, October 10, 1954. This makes several people requesting my assistance in helping them getting delegates lined up. Don't you think this also gives me an opening to request them to join our organization through them? I do and did it.

How is every thing down that way. It is getting rather chilly around here. I heard over the radio that Washington had a temperature of 89 on Tuesday October 12. I do wish our weather will hold out good for awhile yet.

The Sub-committee headed by Senator Langer came to New Town yesterday October 12, and conducted all day hearing on our problems relating to Tribal Loans and debts and Juvenile delinquency. I think we came out unscathed.

Tell me more about the development of the convention. I am not going to do anything about the Buffalo Barbecue until I know for certain that I will not cause any friction among the program planners.

Sincerely, I am,
Martin Cross
