HOTEL FONTENELLE
OMAHA'S WELCOME TO THE WORLD

Helen, This is a result of our letter on our plans for N.C.A.I. Convention, Sincerely, Dan.

December 31, 1953

Mr. D.M. Madrano
Chairman- N.C.A.I. Convention Committee
821 North Cheyenne
Tulsa, Oklahoma

Dear Mr. Madrano:

In Mr. Griswold's absence, I am writing to acknowledge and thank you for your kind letter of December 28th, designating Hotel Fontenelle as headquarters for National Congress of American Indians and accepting the dates of September 27, 28, 29 and 30, 1954, which we offered to you as fully available. We appreciate very much your cooperation in re-arranging the dates and agree that they are close enough to National Indian Day to appropriately commemorate that event. We are looking forward with much enthusiasm to this convention and believe it will play an important and appropriate part in the celebration of Omaha's 100th birthday. We believe, too, that the meeting held in Omaha at that time will attract a much larger than average4 attendance from the Indian population in this and nearby state.

We have been in touch with Mr. Norman Haried of Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and he informed us that he is writing you to confirm dates and other preliminary arrangements.

We will also confer with Mr. Walter L. Hamilton on the working out of preliminary arrangements for you and your committee to visit Omaha and discuss the convention in detail.

In this connection, we would like to invite you and your committee to make your headquarters at the Fontenelle when you come to Omaha to complete arrangements. If you will let us know the date of your intended visit, rooms for you and the committee will be provided for this preliminary meeting with our compliments.

Glad to note you are not a stranger either to Omaha or the Fontenelle. We are enclosing a couple recent folders outlining facilities, and you can readily see from this that we are well equipped to handle your convention to best advantage. Incidentally, the new Municipal Auditorium, which will be completed well in advance of your 1954 convention dates, is located just a block and a half from our hotel.

Looking forward to seeing you and other members of your group in the near future, we are, with best wishes,

Yours sincerely,
Paul Johnson, Manager
