Sir I have the honor to enclose herewith vouchers for my traveling expenses during trip from Nashville Tenn Pulaski Tenn, and return, between the 18th and 20th inst. amounting to $11.60/100 Very respectfully, Your obedient servant J L Horr Clerk Nashville Tenn. Nov. 25~1874. Col Geo Gibson 5th Inf D.O.F.B. Memphis Tenn. Sir I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter enclosing your checks, five in number, on the First National Bank of Nashville, amounting in all to $8,846.74. I handed them, in person, according to your instructions to Mr. Cooley Cashier of the above named Bank and received from him in return your memorandum checks and letter of credit for the same amount. I enclose herewith the letter of credit and memorandum checks referred to, all endorsed as "canceled". On receiving the checks Mr. Cooley remarked that he understood that you had promised to send him N. Y. Exchange instead of checks against your account at the 1st Nat. Mr. Cooley also said that the Giles Nat. Bank had charged him $6.50 on the letter of credit. That the other Bank at Pulaski would in the future should you desire to make your disbursement through them, cash the check without charge or discount and would also provide a room to disburse in if necessary. Should you wish it you might deposit with the 1st Nat. the amount disbursed with checks on N.Y. Memphis Tenn. Sir I have the honor in obedience to instructions sent this day for expense and income. Books containing the names of the soldiers representing all the claims at this office for which you have been responsible, giving their Co. Regt. date of list payment, and &c. I also sent 105 (paid) confidential lists of soldiers whose claims you have paid since last June 22nd, ~ also the unpaid confidential list of Fayette Garth, Sameul Lock and Richard Northington ~ discharges accompany the last two lists.
