[[Circled]] 49 [[/circled]] [[underlined]] Cebus capucinus [[/underlined]], Feb. 15, 1961, III [[lines running vertically down left margin]] and BB patterns!!! Sometimes, when Osk was alone on the floor, if I approached him very rapidly, he would flinch and/or try to run away from me. At such times he usually uttered a medley of loud S Trll's, AlB's and/or Screams. If I put my hand down beside him gently, he would clasp it. Sometimes uttering 1 or 2 BB notes just as he started to clasp. Once I started to manhandle him very roughly. He immediately uttered a burst of Trll's and AlB's, jumbled together Every once in a while, when Osk is clinging peacefully to my arm, especially a few minutes after settling down after some disturbance, he will utter a whole series of rapid "breathy' sounds. Definitely not Mu. Reminiscent of Spider Monkeys? [[underlined]] Cebus capucinus [[/underlined]], I August 18, 1961 Barro Colorado Unfortunately, I have been too busy to study Osk during the last 6 months. He has been kept up in a cage by himself in the animal house all this time. Flourishing. At least half grown by now. He has not, I think, developed any new "learned" signal patterns. Going to observe him this morning 7:30 a.m. When I approach his cage and look at him, he responds by crouching a little, legs folded, hands invisible under chest, tail curled around body. Head not lowered. But this crouch may well be an "int. mov." of Hdd. Quite a number of movements superimposed upon this crouch One of them is 'bouncing up and down" This may be a low intensity or an urgent form of Jud; but it is [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] straight legged. Arms straight
