26th April 1949.

A dull, chilly, afternoon, after too bright sunny morning & almost clear frosty night.  Left home in car about 2.30 P.M. & drove (Daisy, Marcus Graham & I) to west end of the Phoenix Park:  left car at White's Gate & went along boundary wall to foot of The Furry Glen, then back to car via the pond & plantation W. of Ord. Survey headquarters.  Left at 5.5 & drove home.

Swept & beat insects in two areas as follows:-
1 = Under trees S. of White's gate along boundary wall, & around clump of hawthorn scrub between Ord. Survey & boundary;  most swept & some beaten off maple & hawthorn, former in flower, latter in bud.
2 = birch plantation W. of Furry Glen & under trees along boundary wall S.E. of Knockmaroon Gate.

Pimpla quadridentata ♀︎ swept in open field near plantation belt parallel to boundary wall: very dark & large specimen!
Stenomacrus ridibundus ♂︎♂︎ & ♀︎: not mtd.
Homocidus flavolineatus ♂︎, ant. 26, rather dark.
Apanteles fulvipes group:  about 6♂︎♂︎:  2♂︎♂︎ mtd.
