Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 25, 1962, II

[] Glor []

[[image - sketch of posture of bird]]
Bill quite short (light colored)
Typical x♂ singing posture. Head rounded on top. Wings slightly drooped. Somewhat more hunched (head lower on shoulders, body same angle) between phrases.

[] Glor []
X♂ (&♀) still continuing to behave as before 6:15. ♂ usually utters R only when first flying to ♀. Later following & chasing.

[] Glor []
6:17 X♂, who has been singing, suddenly stops, flies across road, lands near another bird (another Glor) and goes into an extreme silent St. Head & bill vertical. Body diagonal. Breast & belly at least moderately fluffed. Then flies away (after other bird flies in opposite direction, I think). Encounter with a territorial rival.

X♂ has done absolutely no aerial display this morning.

[] Glor []
6:37 am. X♂ has several times flown to the ♀, perched a foot or so away from her, and sung one or two typical song phrases then settled down, just sat quietly or followed ♀, silently or with soft "Tseet" notes. Then he flies toward her again, perches near her, sings. The ♀ immediately goes into a sort of H. Head fairly low, bill pointed slightly upward (I couldn't see if her neck was retracted or not).

[] Glor []
Wings held out, and slightly drooped, but not Q'd. Tail slightly raised. The ♂ immediately flew to her, uttering R.

[] Glor []
He apparently came into contact with her, but she flew away again immediately. A few seconds later she came back, carrying n. vh. to the nest! This time the ♂ just sat and watched her quietly.
