Mixed Diglossini, Feb. 11, 1964, IV [[circled]] 12 [[/circled]]

[[margin]] Brun Uni Cy [[/margin]] Then Brun sings in distance. Then Uni sings. Complete overlap. Then Uni stops. Brun continues. Then Cy starts. Brun stops after brief overlap. Then Uni starts. Overlaps Cy broadly. Cy stops. Uni stops. Brun starts again. Uni starts. Broad overlap. Uni stops. Brun continues. Uni starts again. Etc. Lots of overlaps, altho not necessarily always complete. Uni stops. Brun continues alone. 7:23 Shuts up

Fog starting to come in.

[[margin]] Cy [[/margin]] 7:28. General burst of noise from Cy area. Ordinary songs. Also series loud emphatic (but still high pitched and somewhat thin) "Zeewee zeewee zeewee zeewee....." Notes. Dispute? (Unfortunately can't see birds).

[[margin]] Brun Cy [[/margin]] 7:31. Brun sings a couple of phrases perched exposed ^[[checkmark above exposed]] in middle of Cy territory [[underlined]] Again the Cys don't seem to be nearby at the time [[/underlined]] The territorial arrangements among the different species of diglossines here seem to be similar to the corresponding arrangements in the Quito region during the breeding season. It is only the singing arrangements which are different.

[[margin]] Uni Brun [[/margin]] Uni sings again. All other diglossines silent. Shuts up. Then some Bruns sing. Shut up. Uni sings again.

[[margin]] Uni Cy Brun [[/margin]] As far as I can tell, there is only 1 Uni here and 1 pair of Cys. ^[[three checkmarks]] Lots of Bruns.

7:45 Both Bruns and Uni singing quite frequently. Some complete overlaps, some partial overlaps, some alternation.

[[margin]] Brun [[/margin]] NOTE: My earlier remark about Bruns becoming silent early is obviously wrong — as far as this area is concerned.

[[margin]] Uni [[/margin]] Watching Uni sing. Unlike Pect, it looks small-headed and big bodied. Also belly apparently always fluffed
