[[margin]] 3 gray vertical lines 1 gray cross hatched vertical line [[/margin]] Plain-colored Tanagers seem to be rather less common than before around the clearing, now that the breeding season has begun; and I think that they are rather less gregarious now.

[[margin]] 1 gray vertical cross hatched line 1 gray vertical line 1 blue vertical line 1 blue cross hatched vertical line [[/margin]] I have been watching visitors coming to visit the captive birds in the outside cage; and I rather think that Golden-masks are quite as likely to make visits as are Plains. The situation, in other words, may be just the same as in the honeycreepers. The Golden mask  may have quite as strong positive social tendencies as the Plain -- only its hostility is stronger.

The surprising thing was that while the actual fight was going on, the two birds were quite silent!
