Journal of Richard E. Blackwelder, West Indies, vol. 1

Stanford University entomologist Richard Blackwelder received a scholarship from 1935 to 1938 to conduct scientific studies outside of the United States. Having selected the West Indies as a focus, he began his research in Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic to study insects, especially beetles. Blackwelder provides descriptions of flora and fauna of his surrounding environment, elevations, weather information, abundance of insect genera is noted when applicable. He also described how his specimens were obtained. Descriptions of birds are also included.
