Dear Sherman:

When I had the pleasure of your visit, with Mr. William Talbot, last October, you were much impressed, I believe, with the two monumental panels by Baron GROS (over 11' in height).

These two painting - for the BATAILLE DES PYRAMIDES - as you know, are the originals from which those at the Château de Versailles were copied. They are unique, for aside from the Louvre and Versailles, there are no representations on such a scale of any of the great battlescenes so characteristic of that age.

If I remember correctly you even had in mind specific emplacements for them in your Museum. May I inquire whether you have given further thought to those exceptional paintings? Their selling price, you will recall, is $100,000.

May I take advantage of these lines to reiterate my congratulations on your splendid Daytona address which I enjoyed listening to so much. Thanks to Tom Colt's Bulletin, I have also had the opportunity of reading it and realize that the printed word allows a deeper understanding of its far-reaching meaning.

With best personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
